My Story

Perspectives- a word that often find myself using. I find perspectives really interesting, because no one sees the same thing, nor do they experience the same thing. Does everyone see red in the same shade? Is the navy blue that I am seeing the same as what you can see? No one will ever know. Everyone is different. I am me, and there is only so much I can experience and feel if I am only being ‘myself’. That is why I love arts, through reading, watching, feeling, acting and everything. I get to be more than just ‘me’ but I get to be those characters, being able to experience their own world in their eyes.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been interested in all types of art forms. Such as arts and crafts, dancing, reading and drama. I truly enjoy the feeling of being someone else and the opportunity to live vicariously through the characters. It allows me to forget about myself and my problems and learn more through others perspectives. However, I was quite scared and embarrassed by these interest since it is uncommon and not supported by others, and did not pursue those interests. Thankfully, a few years back, in Y9 I was placed into the music class, and all students were required to join at least one music related CAS club, and I took this opportunity to join the school musical. I will be forever grateful for that opportunity because it allowed me to be reminded of how much I love acting, as well as gaining the new interest in singing. Through that experience, I started investing more of my time in performing arts since I have matured and realised that it is about my interest, passion, and career, and the opinion and judgement of my peers should not strip away from my happiness.

Since then, I have realised and been recognised in my talent, effort and interest placed in performing arts. I am not book smart, I am just average. However, when it comes to performing, I know that I can go through obstacles and challenge my limit to reach higher and higher. In the past years, I would like to say that I have achieved a lot in performing, and two of my accomplishments which I am proud of the most is being casted as Wednesday in “The Addams Family” and being able to work in Disney Voice. In 2019 summer, I joined a programme called Summer Musical School, it is a course organised by the HKAPA EXCEL(Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, EXtension and Continuing Education for Life). I auditioned and was casted as Wednesday Addams. This opportunity allows me to challenge and improve myself since this character is a character which is way out of my comfort zone, in terms of personality and singing.
